5000 mcg methylfolate
After 2 miscarriages I asked my doctor to test me for MTFHR. I learned that I am compound heterozygous for this gene.

My doctor told me I should start taking 5000 mcg of Methyfolate daily. This seems like a lot.

I went back a few days later requesting to be have my homocystiene levels checks along with my folate and vitamin B12 levels. My doctor said these reults woulnd't change the treatment plan, but that I could check them if I wanted to.

Will this information be helpful? I want to make sure I'm taking the right supplements. I trust my doctor, but I'm not sure she has all the information she needs in order to accurately tell me what to take.

Has anyone had similar experiences with this?

That does seem like a lot. Dr. Lynch has some videos on this - here is a good one to start with: http://mthfr.net/methylation-and-mthfr-d...012/04/25/
