Homozygous C677t and pregnant. Need help!!
Hello,

I am 19 weeks pregnant with homozygous MTHFR c677t and positive for PAI-1. I have had 2 miscarriages before finding out I had this and now that my doctor has put me on Lovenox, baby Aspirin, and 3mg methylfolate plus my prenatals (optimal prenatal from seeking health), I have been able to get to his point of my pregnancy. However, I had some spotting twice. It goes away, but then had spotting again a week later. The second time, it looked like a tiny blood clot. It was not followed by additional bleeding. My question is, is it normal to have spotting when pregnant with MTHFR?
I met a women a year ago who also had MTHFR and I remember her telling me she spotted throughout her pregnancy but her son was born just fine. But it really worries me that i formed a clot.

Is there anything else I should be taking or doing? Also, I am an esthetician and I am sitting down for 8-10 hrs straight at work. Is this dangerous? Could this be causing the spotting/clotting? I am planning on quitting. I will do anything to improve my circulation and to make sure I do what's best for this pregnancy, the baby, and myself.

I am very worried. I have tried to inform myself as much as I can about all of this but I need a little more guidance. I am seeing a specialist here in Las Vegas, he has worked with pregnancies with thrombophilias but I don't think he's all that well inform since he originally wanted to prescribe me 2.5ng of folic acid, but thanks to this site I knew better and started taking methylfolate instead even though he insisted it was "the same thing".

Are there any doctors in Las Vegas, NV that you recommend that are very well informed about pregnancies with thrombophilias?

I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you!

Hi, welcome and congrats on your pregnancy!

Please check out this post if you haven't already:

I have not heard of spotting as a symptom of MTHFR. I think this is a question only your doctor can answer as there is no way for us to evaluate you or the causes of your spotting on an online forum. I also don't know about sitting being a risk factor...have you talked to a hematologist?

Please search for a local doctor here: http://mthfr.net/mthfr-resources/

Good luck and keep us posted!
