Need to increase methylfolate during high stress times?
Hi, I am new to this group. I was diagnosed with the mthft mutation a few years ago (homozygous c677t) and have been taking methylfolate. Ben taking 1.2 mg and that has helped tremendously with my anxiety to the point of not having any major anxiety attacks in a very long time. Recently I have gone through some major life events and my anxiety has come back full force. Panic attacks, general anxiety, bad insomnia. Wondered if others found they had increase symptoms under high stress and if they found they had to increase methylfolate? Thanks!

Hi Jaxi and welcome

I believe I have read on the MTHFR.net site or elsewhere that our folate needs increase during stress. I know that when I am stressed I personally do increase my intake. I can't advise you what to do as medical advice, but perhaps some trial and error here, or consult with your treating physician will let you know if it benefits you.

Thank you! I am glad I found this forum.

And that you for the information. I am going to be working with a new functional medicine doctor to try to get this under control again. So I will definitely talk to him. But I am glad to hear that someone else does this and it may be something that can help. I will see what helps. Thanks again!
